From the first time I met Heather and Tim I knew that their wedding was going to be a very special day and that I was going to love photographing it. Heather had the most beautiful details planned and had assembled an excellent team to make the day run without a hitch. I was honoured to be a part of that team and was touched when Heather and Tim told me that I was not just their photographer, I was a friend.
Heather and Tim wanted their wedding to be a reflection of themselves and the life they have built together as well as a celebration of all that is fantastic locally. From the beautiful local church filled with flowers from their own garden, to the stunning venue overlooking the Thames valley, the game-based menu exquisitely cooked by the team from The Pot Kiln, more flowers from Heather and Tim’s garden and the rides where they walk their dogs, local beer and cider even through to the jazz band – Pete Allen was brought up a stone’s throw from Hillfields at Basildon House and now lives in Yattendon. On top of all this fabulousness the happy (actually, more ecstatic) couple added lots of personal details – their dogs came to the church (no, really!), Heather was driven to church by her dad in their Landrover, which Tim then drove to Hillfields, every table had flowers in a vintage tin and every arrangement was different, the favour were aquilegia seeds in a pretty little ceramic pot, I could go on and on…..
The flowers were supplied by the wonderful Karen at The Allium Design Company www.alliumdesign.co.uk and her brief was probably a slightly unusual one – “I want it to look like I woke up in the morning and realised it was my wedding day and I didn’t have any flowers so I went out in the garden and picked them” Karen and Heather spent an afternoon picking flowers from their garden and created the most stunning displays from them, including some beautiful milk churns filled with delphiniums, foxgloves and roses. Later on in the day, Karen took the garland from over the church door and put it around the top of the Landrover for Heather and Tim to drive home in!
I had a blissful day shooting gorgeous details and happy people and I have so many images that I am going to save some for another post – my first two-parter!
